Inikama backpacks have been produced in a factory in Dongguan, Guangdong, China, close to the metropole of Guangzhou. Before deciding on this site we visited several factories in different regions of China and got impressions on different work environments and workmanship. The differences can be huge. We finally choose a manufacturer that has a western attitude when it comes to fulfilling our high standards on quality, and a social work environment. Another advantage of this location is that it is a big textile center and therefore has many suppliers settled near it as well as high proficiency. Additionally, China improved its environmental laws in the last year so that supplier for plating, tanning, and dying have to fulfill higher standards or lose their business licenses. At the same time, wages in China are rising. Many brands choose to relocate their production to cheaper countries, but we choose to stay in these improved conditions.
